vaccinationEdward Jenner was the first person to discover and use a vaccine. He had noticed that people who suffered from the mild disease called cowpox did not catch the deadly smallpox virus. So he took some pus from a cowpox and inoculated a child to see if he would become ill. It worked! and the boy did not catch smallpox even when Jenner later deliberately exposed him to smallpox.
